About the Role
Reporting to the COO, the Director of Engineering is responsible to lead the company’s water treatment engineering community of practice, assembling and directing teams to develop water treatment solutions and design, optimize, and plan pilots through full-scale chemical and biological water treatment facilities.  This role will also provide leadership in the development of the larger engineering program for Ensero by establishing engineering standards and recruiting and developing talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior engineering design and design team leadership for biological and non-biological water treatment systems, including piloting test work, demonstration facilities, and full-scale water treatment facilities.
  • Create and maintain an engineering program for the development of standards for water treatment engineering throughout Ensero. 
  • Support the recruitment and development of new engineering talent.
  • Participate in client interface and scope coordination for projects.
  • Lead other engineering projects as part of the broader Ensero Engineering Team.
  • Monitor and promote system environmental health and worker safety compliance.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to operations to ensure assigned functions are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Support the development of project proposals for existing and future customers.
  • Build and maintain great client relationships through ongoing communication and understanding of client goals.
  • Travel to potential and existing worksites to interface with on-site staff, vendors, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Provide technical input to projects within your area(s) of expertise.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and professional development opportunities for Ensero’s engineering team.
  • Build team capabilities (recruitment, development, retention, etc.) and manage staff performance including goal setting, defining responsibilities, and determining priorities.
  • Interfacing and communicating with other managers on scheduling and resource requirements.
  • Manage special projects that support the broad-based needs of a rapidly expanding company.
  • All other related duties as required.
About You
  • Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical or process engineering.
  • Professional Engineering designation.
  • 15 or more years of engineering experience in water treatment process design or water treatment facility engineering.
  • Working knowledge of mine-site water management challenges, and engineering for remote and cold-weather locations. 
  • Previous experience leading cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams and employees.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
