Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has an incredible opportunity in the Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Tacoma as an ITS Operations Engineer. In this role, you will provide specialist support to the WSDOT Olympic Region TMC and the Region’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) consisting of FLOW operations, ramp meters, variable message signs, highway advisory radio, toll operations and moveable bridge Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The individual in this role will apply an in-depth and diversified knowledge of Transportation Operations. This position requires a high-level of independent judgement and decision making as decisions made directly affect the safety and the flow of traffic on the state highways and adjacent arterial roadway systems. The ITS Engineer position is critical in fostering an inclusive and healthy work environment that challenges all staff to be respectful and professional. Our top candidate will be comfortable with working in the field and performing a variety of duties in accordance with WSDOT standards. The right individual must be able to prioritize tasks and process documents quickly; making sure work is done accurately and efficiently.
