As a Field Service Technician, you are the liaison with customers on operational, technical, maintenance and administrative issues and will achieve customer satisfaction by traveling to customer locations (potentially exceeding 50%) for on-site installations, start-ups, diagnosis, troubleshooting, routine service, and repair of HTC process systems and associated equipment.

In this position, you will work with the sales team to help identify potential customer equipment modifications, upgrades and service contracts that enhance the operation of HTC’s products and overall customer experience, as well as:

  • Achieve customer satisfaction by traveling to customer locations to repair, service, install and start up equipment
  • Perform service including but not limited to rebuilding equipment, start-ups of units or systems, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical/process related issues of HTC equipment
  • Coordinate between customers and HTC teams during all phases of installation/repair
  • Train customer’s operators and maintenance staff in the proper use, maintenance and repair of HTC supplied equipment
  • Recommend to customers any equipment modifications, upgrades, spare parts and service contracts that will enhance operation of HTC’s products and satisfy customer needs
  • Provide new equipment sales leads to HTC sales team to follow up
  • Follow all established procedures and protocols as required by customers during installation and repairs at customer locations
  • Identify, document and address any potential safety hazards
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing and sales teams on product performance and customer feedback to enhance / change / improve HTC products
  • Demonstrate proficiency of HTC related equipment, applications, and customer requirements as well as train personnel both internal and external
  • Perform refurbishment and assembly services at HTC facility when not at customer sites

Are you prepared to be our Field Service Technician?

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field such as Automation, Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, Field Service, and 2+ years of field service or technical hands-on customer support experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings (P&ID, electrical schematics and technical manuals)
  • Practical experience with industrial equipment including but not limited to process piping, pumps, valves, process controls and instrumentation.
  • Practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques with the ability to apply creativity and logic to resolve complex electronic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and software related issues for applications featuring HTC products and equipment
  • Experience with electrical control systems and programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams on problems solving to satisfy customer needs
  • Proficiency with PC and Windows Operating system, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of InforCRM or similar contact resource management (CRM) software, as well as typical ERP systems

 Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and use lifting devices such as jacks, portable floor cranes and come-along winches.
  • Ability to crawl, bend and maneuver body to work in tight spaces, while working in hot, dirty and noisy areas of manufacturing plants handling equipment in high pressure steam applications. Exposure to hot steam piping and process fluids. Exposure to electrical circuits in work areas.
  • Flexible to work at remote sites and variable schedules to accommodate customer needs and travel on short notice during emergency which may include weekends and holidays.
