Reporting to the Mining Equipment Category Manager, the primary purpose of the Senior Analyst position is to develop and care for relationships between Suppliers and Nutrien Stakeholders at various levels of the organization.  The successful candidate will work cross functionally within the Mining Equipment Category to impact and create value added initiatives that contribute to business performance.

 

Though preference is for this position to be in Saskatoon and work a 5-day week, 8 hours a day, other work locations and hybrid work locations/schedules may be considered.

 

What you will do:

  • Work with, and cross functionally through, the business to provide thoughtful analysis and strategic decision support which considers probabilistic scenarios and impacts across the value chain
  • Continuous development of ideas/strategies, support in prioritizing and tracking in addition to facilitating meetings to provide status of strategies and in-flight initiatives with cross-functional teams
  • Extract and analyze historical spend data and develop forecast profiles from SAP, Oracle and Hana for Mining Equipment spend sub-categories, such as:
    • Mechanical cutting equipment, parts & service
    • Custom metal fabrication/repairs/rebuilds of mining equipment & components
    • Conveyor systems, components & services
    • Underground vehicles, parts & services
    • Ground support parts & services
    • Hoist, shaft & dragline parts & services
    • Crushing and screening equipment, parts & services
    • Heavy mining aboveground equipment
    • Mining MRO supplies
  • Assess industry and Supplier landscape by performing market research and Supplier due diligence, including insight and analysis of Indigenous goods and services, directly supporting business ED&I goals and targets
  • Create, analyze, negotiate and award RFx packages coordinating with Internal Stakeholders and Suppliers
  • Lead meetings and calls with Suppliers, Legal, and Internal Stakeholders towards the negotiation of Master Supply Agreements, aligned to business priorities
  • Follow Procurement procedures and processes
  • Lead communication and implementation of new contracts and supplier relationships at sites
  • Monitor and care for assigned contracts
  • Develop and manage material and service fixed price agreements
  • Manage to deadlines on multiple projects of varying complexities
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
  • Travel nationally and internationally up to 25% of the time

  • Comfortable being on Industrial sites, in underground mines and near operating heavy equipment
  • Proficiency in legal and commercial contracts
  • Highly motivated, independent, self-starter requiring little supervision
  • High technical knowledge on mining equipment/parts and suppliers
  • Superb critical thinking skills, good with numbers, the ability to both go deep and retain big picture thinking
  • Deep familiarity and practical experience with enterprise asset management systems (SAP / Oracle), spend management tools (Ariba), and data insights tools (SAP Hana)
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft applications with a high skill level with Excel/PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, project management, engineering, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Experience in Indigenous community/business development is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license
