This position reports to the Superintendent of Process Engineering, who in turn reports to the Engineering Manager.

This position is located in Lima, Ohio, U.S.A. and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

  • Aid in providing process engineering support to Operations for optimization and degradation study efforts
  • Discuss technology and operating issues with Engineering and Operations personnel both locally and at other Nutrien sites
  • Contribute to Computer Models (using Hysis/Aspen/PRO II) to predict effect on Operations
  • Provide technical support in the design, specification, selection, and operation of equipment
  • Remain on call for emergency trouble shooting and operations support
  • Ensure all work is done in a safe manner consistent with company, local, state, federal and health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures
  • Support development of capital improvement projects for budget submittal
  • Evaluate process equipment and performance, under the guidance of a more experienced engineer, by collecting and analyzing data and other information and makes recommendations to improve overall reliability and product quality
  • Support a wide variety of complex engineering assignments with appropriate direction, including investigation of problems or opportunities, preparation of design and specifications, performance measurement of projects via economic evaluations, and preparation of AFE’s for submittal to the Engineering Manager
  • Provide support to evaluate the production unit to discover process/production inefficiencies and problems, safety hazards, and environmental problems and recommends courses of action
  • Stay abreast of current technologies in process equipment design and operation to implement such technologies where applicable to improve plant reliability and operations
  • Gain knowledge of day-to-day operations of production unit and keeps informed of operational problems and upsets
  • Inform supervisor on current activities, significant developments and technical problems
  • Collaborate with Operations and Internal and External Engineers in developing projects and designs and solving production problems
  • Prepare month end production reports and utility consumption reports for financial accounting
  • Write letters and reports incidental to assignments; schedules and conducts meetings with operating, maintenance, and technical personnel

What you will bring:

  • Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Bachelor's is required
  • Experience – minimum 0-1 year experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good communication
  • Basic understanding of plant processes and operations along with utilization of engineering knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of process chemistry and project economics
  • Co-op experience in chemical plant, refinery, or other processing or manufacturing industry preferred
  • Successful Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
