This position reports to the Process Engineering Superintendent.

This position is located in Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

  • Closely monitor Site Distributed Control System and Safety System performance
  • Evaluate BPCS and SIS layers of protect taken from LOPA and develop safety requirement specifications to support layer of protection requirements.
  • Evaluate existing controls / safety functions and unit operations to improve operating efficiency and rate, product quality, on-stream factor and economy.
  • Develop and make recommendations for new control designs and/or modifications for areas to ensure maximum operating efficiency, return on investment, and meet safety standards.
  • Promote and contribute to successful implementation of projects by providing accurate, timely and thorough design input and specifications / design review by facilitating close coordination and communications with area personnel.
  • Provide construction and commissioning support of instruments and control systems for capital projects.
  • Provide support to Operations on operating problems and to Maintenance Engineering on equipment performance and controls problems.
  • Provide technical support for all the site operator training simulator
  • Promote and actively participate in “ADAPT” Behavioral Safety Process and Environmental Stewardship activities.
  • Interact daily with operators and shift supervisors to learn and share knowledge of the plant operations and to meld “reality” with “theoretical”.
  • Represent the Augusta site for any instrument or controls guidance and seminars to support the corporate maintenance and reliability committees.

What you will bring:

  • Required Education: Bachelors’ degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering 
  • Required Experience: 5 years of industrial experience required (10 years of industrial experience preferred)
  • Preferred Education and Experience: Advanced study in controls, computing or instrumentation (Honeywell, Yokogawa, etc...)
  • Previous experience in Automation, System Integration, or maintenance of control systems with direct relatable experience with PLC’s and DCS equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation technical schematics and drawings
