Position OverviewThe position has many facets but a strong engineering background in design and construction of sanitary sewer or stormwater collection and conveyance systems is the foundation. The incumbent actively provides direction to a team of professionals in design review and inspection of developers' sewer system extension projects, permitting, and asset management. Is competent to make quality decisions to assure that county sewer systems and connections are designed and constructed in compliance with Federal, State, and County regulations, codes, and standards.The supervisor for the engineering group collaborates closely with all the operations, maintenance, and capital program supervisors to streamline processes between engineering and the other Sewer Utility work groups. Takes initiative developing or updating different programs to collect relevant data for monitoring flows, inspections, and cost projections. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a vital part of the position for managing staff, making occasional presentations, and interfacing directly with other departments, agencies, engineers, and the public. The incumbent desires to provide a positive work culture to fit in with the great work environment of Kitsap County.Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical or environmental) and six years of engineering experience to include two years of supervisory/management experience; OR
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) and two years of supervisory/management experience.
