We are recruiting for an Engineering Technician III in the Survey work group within our Public Works Department.
$48,297.05 - $73,017.05 Annually
** Effective July 1, 2022, yearly salary will be increased by 2.25%.

- 2.5% for GIS Professional Certification.
- Engineering Technician II - 5% for BA degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying, FE or FS Certificate.
- Engineering Technician III - 5% for FE or FS Certificate, Professional Engineer or or LS.
Surveying Services positions are responsible for:
- Performing technical field work utilizing surveying instruments and tools to establish existing grades and topography.
- Preparing and reducing field survey notes and electronic data into CAD drawings and electronic files.
- Analyzing and interpreting historical records and other survey data for use in survey boundary resolutions and mapping.
- Preparing and checking legal and property descriptions.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans and calculate grades for roadbeds, storm and sanitary sewer lines, and related utilities for construction layout.
- Drawing maps and processing electronic data for engineering designs.
- Maintaining GIS database and map layer of public works real property interests.
- Reviewing land divisions for survey specific state and local law conformity.
- Communicating with engineers, other surveyors, construction contractors, workers, and other members of the public.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Years of experience:
- Engineering Tech III must have four (4) years of related engineering technical experience; or
- NOTE - this position may be underfilled by applicants with less related engineering technical experience depending on the applicant pool.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an bachelor’s degree in engineering, surveying, or construction management; and/or equivalent combination of college level education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Requires possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Trimble surveying equipment and office software.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or Carlson CAD surveying software
- Experience with writing legal descriptions.
- Experience with surveying field work including topographic surveying and construction layout.
