The City of Medford has a unique career opportunity for a Consultant Project Leader in the Engineering division of the Public Works department!  The Consultant Project Leader performs professional level engineering and oversight of consultants providing engineering services in designing, permitting, planning and contracting for capital improvements to the City’s public works infrastructure.   

This position may be responsible for:  

  • Managing and participating in special projects and strategic planning efforts as assigned.
  • Supervising assigned staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff training; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations to the Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer.
  • Assisting City Engineer and Deputy City Engineer in the development and administration of assigned program budget; forecasts funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, projects, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommending and implementing resulting policies and procedures.
The Public Works Department has 120 employees in three divisions: Engineering, Operations, and Water Reclamation.  All three divisions work closely together to ensure the citizens of Medford enjoy properly built and maintained streets, sanitary sewer collection and storm drainage systems, and that wastewater is property treated. 

Minimum Required Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible engineering experience, leadership and management experience to perform the job effectively; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or related area of study; and/or equivalent combination of college level education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
