Position Summary: 
Develop design drawings and related specifications for standard engineering applications involving electronic systems for data and voice communications requirements, telemetering devices, and related communications equipment.  Perform independent design and system studies on specific projects under the direction of engineering staff.  Support and assist engineers in the completion of communications project design and administration, data collection, and documentation.  Perform other duties as required.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze engineering drawings, specifications and system data to determine design factors on specific projects requiring communications related equipment. 
  • Perform the design of engineering projects under the general supervision of engineers using CAD drafting techniques.
  • Develop and compile all detailed drawings, cost estimates, and material lists to prepare work orders for communications related jobs.
  • Process data necessary to develop engineering planning reports and design studies. 
  • Participate and assist in data collection, field surveying and planning of systems facilities for the cooperative or member cooperatives.
  • Calculate and organize information for system studies and provides technical consultation for special projects.
  • Perform field related investigations, inspections, or monitoring. 
  • Work closely with communications technicians on completion of design installations and testing.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate degree in electronics, telecommunications, or computer networking related field from a recognized vocational/technical school.  Minimum of four (4) years field related experience as an engineering technician or in a comparable position at Brazos Electric
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This position requires working inside in a controlled environment and occasionally outside in varying weather conditions. Sitting for extended periods of time. Working overtime and traveling at times with short notice. Hearing within normal range, hearing aids are permitted. Vision within normal range, corrective lenses are permitted.  Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
