Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Bridge and Structures Office provides a full range of structural engineering services required to provide safe, economical, and reliable structures for Washington's transportation system, currently comprising nearly 3,100 existing vehicular bridges with approximately 18 new bridges being added annually. Bridge Design is currently seeking multiple Bridge Engineer 4’s (In-Training) in Tumwater, WA. These positions provide design and construction support for transportation structures. The Bridge Engineer 4 (BE4) positions represent the culmination of many aspects of job training in bridge design issues. The successful BE4 has acquired a Professional Engineer's License and a solid base of work experience, enabling them to handle the majority of structural responsibilities in the group. BE4's are relied upon for their versatility, their up to-date design and code knowledge, and their superior work production rates. Persons filling this position are expected to coordinate with Region Offices, Bridge Office design specialists and engineers, consultants, and bridge detailers. The BE4 routinely represents the Bridge Office as a Bridge Technical Advisor (BTA) on construction projects of various scope and scale. The BE4 may act as a Bridge Office representative for development and construction of Design-Build projects. All work is under the supervision of a Washington State Structural Engineer.
 
Note: This is an in-training position that offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Bridge Engineer field and achieve the goal class of a Bridge Engineer 4. Candidates will be considered as a Bridge Engineer 1, 2, 3, or 4, depending on their qualifications.
