Surna Cultivation Technologies (, is an industry leader in CEA facility design and technologies. We provide full-service licensed architectural and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services, carefully curated HVACD equipment, proprietary controls systems, air sanitization, lighting, benching and racking products. Our team of licensed professional architects and engineers, technology and horticulture specialists, project managers, and systems integration experts help our customers by precisely designing for their unique applications. Through our partnership with a certified service contractor network, we provide installation and maintenance services to assist in a smooth build-out and optimal facility performance. We have been providing solutions to indoor growers for over 15 years and have served over 800 cultivators with over 200 of them being large, commercial projects.
Headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, we leverage our experience in the industry to bring value-added solutions to our customers that help improve their overall crop quality and yield, optimize energy and water efficiency, and satisfy evolving state and local codes, permitting and regulatory requirements.
As an Application Engineer, you will apply your knowledge of indoor cultivation and HVAC and dehumidification (HVACD) systems to help identify the best suite of Surna products for potential cannabis and indoor agriculture projects in support of Surna’s sales team. The primary responsibility of the Application Engineer is to develop conceptual HVACD system designs for project opportunities and develop corresponding cost estimates for the salesperson’s proposal. This is a technical role that works closely with both the sales and design engineering teams and requires understanding of different HVACD systems, and their application to indoor cultivation facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to strike a balance between functionality, cost effectiveness, and redundancy in their system proposals and be able to articulate the design’s value to the field sales personnel and/or client to convey our value proposition. The Application Engineer will continually develop and refine the estimating process in cooperation with all internal departments impacted including but not limited to: VP of Development, Application Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Engineering Design teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as engineering subject matter expert on Surna products and systems for cannabis and indoor agriculture projects.
  • Provide initial design direction in consultation with sales and potential clients for Surna proposals.
  • Load calculations and system selection for Surna HVAC, dehumidification, airflow and air sanitation products.
