Job Description:

Our client, a global chemical leader is looking for an experienced Analytical Lab Shift Supervisor, to support multiple plants/ products for quality control, quality assurance, and process control analyses.  Requires prior experience as a Laboratory Supervisor, and commitment to directing a team of operators on 12 hour rotating shifts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

--- BS Chemistry degree with 5+ years supervisory experience in analytical chemistry laboratory including wet chemistry, statistical quality control methods, and operation and maintenance of standard analytical equipment. Must have understanding of inorganic chemistry and industrial chemical production.
 
--- Must have experience with ICP, GC, IC, Combustion Analyzers, Colorimetry, TOC, XRF, Density Meters.
 
--- Understanding / knowledge of LIMS; GLP; Food/ Feed Safety
 
--- Root cause analysis and corrective action of laboratory issues / instrumentation.
 
--- Thorough knowledge of plant safety, environmental and personnel policies in PSM/ chemical plant environments as well as site processes and products.
 
--- Able to work in the USA without sponsorship, now or in the future

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

--- Supervise the lab shift team and ensure the proper training, health and safety of the workers

 

--- Provide and monitor analytical testing results of raw materials to finished products to assist in quality control / quality assurance

 

--- Perform all assigned process control analyses following routine sample schedules and enters results into LIMS including using a variety of instrumentation and methods

 

--- Respond to requests for priority assays by logging samples and results into LIMS

 

--- Identify off-grade and abnormal shipments and control analyses and reports to the Laboratory Supervisor or Chemist

 

--- Perform statistical quality control charting

 

--- Generate certificates of analysis for customer product shipments (motor vessels, railcars, trucks)

 

--- Investigate and report all environmental incidents during nights, weekends and holidays, oftentimes including the directing of spill containment operations; including spills that require reporting to outside and state and federal agencies

 

--- Monitor and take actions relating to the Laboratory Neutralization System during nights, weekends and holidays

 

--- Provide training, coordinates hands-on testing and progression plan documentation for promotions within shift team
