This position is responsible for managing the execution of corrosion coating testing and evaluation projects within the UDRI Coatings Corrosion and Erosion Group. The person in this position will assist the principle investigators in performing professional level assignments that require the use of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of coatings testing and technologies as well as planning and conducting of experiments, design, and/or analysis efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Experience in the theory and operation of scanning probe surface characterization techniques, thermomechanical analysis of coatings and infra red or Raman spectroscopy analysis of coatings, PI Process Book, MATLAB and ChemCAD software programs.
Due to security clearance requirements for this position, the successful applicant must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a National Agency Check at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Advanced technical degree (M.S. or Ph.D.);
Experience in cathodic reduction of metals (aluminum, silver, copper, etc.) and analysis; familiarity with aerospace substrates, coating technologies, especially with regard to DOD coatings involved in corrosion control technologies;
Experience in coating testing, corrosion control/characterization, accelerated testing of coatings and coating systems; and ability to write and generate technically coherent project reports to project sponsors.
Experience with SEM, EDS, XRF, and Laser Confocal Microscopy.
