Job Description:

Summary/Objective
The plant engineer position combines aspects of mechanical, electronic and material engineering to improve production by developing new machinery, tools and processes which leads to increased overall efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of plant operations.

Essential Functions

1. Oversee and project manage the work of contractors in accordance with project requirements.
2. Supports product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
3. Analyze current manufacturing procedures and implement strategies for improvement.
4. Upgrade the design and function of existing equipment.
5. Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new equipment and processes.
6. Design engineering systems for the automation of industrial tasks including the development and installation of robotic systems.
7. Maintain technical project files.
8. Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures.
9. Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
10. Assist in the development and operation of 3D printing operations.
11. Work with manufactures and customers to identify, consult and develop new 3D printing applications.
12. Support sales and marketing teams with 3D printing applications.
13. Comply with company policies and OSHA safety and health rules.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position oversees the quality assurance department.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the work site including heat and cold exposure. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee will spend time in both an office and manufacturing setting. As such this position will be a combination of sedentary office work and high activity and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.

Travel
Travel is typically not required for this position, however on occasional travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
2. 3 years of related experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software.
2. Experience with ExOne 3D printers and related software.
