HARDWARE AND CIRCUIT DESIGN ENGINEER

The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for an engineer involved with Hardware and Circuit design.  As a Hardware and circuit design engineer for the GBS Group, you will work both independently and with a team of programmers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will develop, design and service electrical hardware for use on U.S Naval ships and their applicable control and instrumentation systems. You will work with a team, and independently, to troubleshooting and repair the applicable control equipment. You will perform remote troubleshooting to assist onsite and ships force personnel in the repair and troubleshooting of these systems. You will develop and lab test these systems to ensure proper operation.  You will be a vital person in the execution of control system hardware upgrades and use your professional leadership skills in a team environment to accomplish these goals. The position will also contribute real value by developing, troubleshooting, and testing of systems and equipment in a variety of Naval ship classes and facilities.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) ships systems and equipment with specialization on machinery control systems (MCS).
  • Perform both In-house and field (on-ship) troubleshooting for such systems.
  • Design, test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards, cable assemblies, devices and systems in a lab setting.
  • Participate in system requirements and development of next generation test tools including prototype development.
  • Review power plant and ships instrumentation drawings, diagrams and specifications to ensure proper documentation.
  • Develop test procedures to verify performance of subject systems.
  • Provide technical support onboard ships in support of system upgrades and system troubleshooting including support of ships force personnel.
  • Provide assistance in the development of system documentation packages and technical manuals.

Qualifications/ Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with control system hardware and interface devices.
  • Understanding of and interpreting power plant drawings and schematics.
  • Understanding of control and instrumentation system design and interfaces.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to be able to coordinate system upgrades between various system interfaces.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)

Physical/ Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Basic math computational skills
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
