Company information: RL Controls. LLC (RLC) is an ISO certified systems integrator that supports the diverse technical needs of the mass transportation industry. Our primary focus is on system technologies that support vehicles solutions for shuttle, bus and rail systems and the facilities. This includes wired and wireless network and backhaul deployments, maintenance, repair, operations, and contract and program support. The ideal candidate will have qualities and experience managing teams within a complex environment with different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner with minimal guidance.
Summary/Objective: This is considered a mid-level engineering position with growth in the position as there is a lot to the description. ABET accredited Electrical, or Computer Science degree preferred. Possess applied mechanical knowledge. Ability to create electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings. You’ll work with various electro-mechanical tools and equipment for installation and testing of simple to complex vehicle systems with great attention to detail.
The Qualified Candidate will possess:
- Great customer service skills
- Ability to present and coordinate with external organizations and/or customers
- Ability to lead a small team to accomplish on-site goals
- Must be able to comprehend technical documentation, descriptions and specifications
- Ability to evaluate work to ensure a quality product is produced, and improve if needed
- Competent with electronics testing tools
- Capable of managing multiple tasks, adapt to change easily and be creative
- Produce technical documentation such as site survey reports, functional descriptions, electrical diagrams, work instructions, contract data requirements list, test plans, and root cause analysis
- Willing to travel for meetings and field work for short periods of time around the country and has a valid driver’s license
- Solidworks 2D and/or 3D electrical experience
- Maintain compliance to all PPE and safety regulations per OSHA and RLC standards
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuits
- Mechanical ability, and knowledge of hand tools and the application and use
- The ability to follow instructions to perform various installations, equipment builds, cabling (building and testing cables), termination, crimping and interconnection requirements
- Troubleshooting experience
- Leadership experience
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Visio
- Soldering and crimping experience with the skills and dexterity necessary to work with small hand tools
- Physically able to lift 30lbs
- Pass all safety training as required, by RLC and their customers
Additional Skills:

- Written and verbal communication skills to create documentation and procedures
- Strong Interpersonal skills and perform under pressure in front of the customer
- Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Ability to Travel within the USA, at times for short periods
- Rail industry experience preferred
