Job Description:

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for providing a full scope project management duty in a variety of construction, repair, and maintenance contracts involving civil, architectural, electrical, and mechanical systems. Performs or directs surveys and investigations to establish baseline data necessary to initiate design. This is to support the VAMHCS project located in Washington DC.

Key responsibilities:                      

  • Responsible for contributing to all phases of capital project planning and delivery from concept, specification, design, analysis, construction, commissioning, and activation 
  • Responsible for professional reviews related to project management services required by the contract 
  • Perform other services during the construction phases that are not included in the contract vehicles associated with the project 
  • Review the contractor's submittals for technical compliance with contract requirements 
  • Advises on the coordination of disruptions to utility services as needed to keep construction progress on schedule and to minimize disruption to ongoing VA operations 
  • Assures completion of projects involving design and review applying seasoned professional technical knowledge and experience in the oversight of an interdisciplinary team engaged in carrying out projects 
  • Submit monthly reports indicating work completed, work in progress with estimated completion dates, work scheduled, and outstanding work 
  • Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to support project designs and plans when necessary 
  • Provides decisive guidance and direction regarding the management of technical aspects of engineering related to building structures
  • Responsible for the overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost and schedule
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. 

Qualifications To be successful in the role: 

  • 7 years of experience in engineering (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, safety, etc.) and construction management of buildings and structures
  • Familiarity with scheduling cost estimating, and overall design integration is necessary
  • Ability to review and resolve engineering issues associated with construction and specification documents
  • Professional experience should also include strong technical writing skills
  • Must be proficient in CADD, Microsoft Office and have experience in document control and management.
  • The contractor shall provide verifiable evidence of experience and competence via resume and reference verification
  • Excellent English is written and verbal communication skills
  • Has the US driver’s license and must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
