The Advanced Composites Group that is part of the Structural Materials (SM) Division in the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and talented programmer who will be responsible for development and implementation of finite element analysis software. The user will work with the team to design and implement C++ code structures in order to advance the state of the art analysis techniques enabling progressive damage modeling of large scale structures on HPC systems. This specific position will also be tasked with working with the development team to implement several important code structures. These will include things such as nonlinear solver routines and time-stepping algorithms to enable robust convergence schemes. The programmer will be part of a highly multidisciplinary research group performing processing, performance evaluation, and testing of advanced composites. A successful candidate must be able to learn quickly, work independently, and be proficient in technical report writing. Additionally, the candidate must be able to contribute to group meetings and planning/review sessions and interact with government scientists and engineers.



Minimum Qualifications
• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or related. Also eligible will be an individual with an Associate degree, Diploma or Certificate in Software development or related discipline with 2 years of programming experience
• Experience is required in coding in C++ and Python.
• Experience writing object oriented programs for high performance computing environments (both CPU and GPU architecture desired).
• Documented ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Applicants must be a Citizen of the U.S.A. and be able to pass a National Agency Check for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience in using visualization software, like TechPlot or Paraview.
• Experience using solid modeling software, Solidworks and/or Pro Engineer.


Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
