Job Description:

UDRI is looking for an Associate Machine Learning Scientist to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing autonomy capabilities and effectiveness.

An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art machine learning and reinforcement learning techniques to reveal new insights and research new applications. They will enjoy and have knowledge of autonomous systems, real-time safety assurance and control systems. This position also requires competency in Python programming language.

This is a highly specialized position requiring prior knowledge and skills in Machine Learning, and will be focused exclusively on creating algorithms and software to advance the field of Machine Learning.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Due to the nature of this position, US. Citizenship is required
3. Eligibility to obtain a United States SECRET clearance (or higher) is required for ongoing employment in this position
4. Successful experience (academic or professional) with:
-- 4.1. Python programming language
-- 4.2. Autonomous systems
-- 4.3. Development and/or application of reinforcement learning algorithms


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Master's degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
2. Strong understanding of mathematical theory and principles
3. Demonstrated, successful experience (academic or professional) with:
-- 3.1. Software and/or algorithm development in Python
-- 3.2. Machine/deep learning techniques
-- 3.3. Real-time safety assurance techniques
-- 3.4. Control systems
-- 3.5. Autonomous cyber-physical systems
-- 3.6. Developing software to communicate and exchange information (e.g. commands, status, data) with hardware devices, sensors, and/or systems
-- 3.7. Implementing algorithms on low size, weight, and power (SWaP) hardware, such as Nvidia Jetson Tx2/Xavier development boards

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
