Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will be actively involved with company’s incoming, in-process, final quality control and quality assurance programs, customers and the QMS, with the aim of meeting or exceeding quality objectives and improving customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise other team members (Technicians or Inspectors) of the area assigned and provide leadership to drive daily management activities to meet quality, cost, delivery, EH&S and customer satisfaction objectives of the department and company.

  • May require performing some hands-on work to inspect and evaluate Products and Parts quality due to the criticality involved with them.
  • Exercise control on inspection stages to avoid escapes to next process / Internal and External Customers
  • Require intense focus on meeting internal and external customer’s requirements.
  • Require facing customer audits, review specifications and drawings.
  • Lead and or facilitate continuous improvement projects around Quality, Cost, Delivery, EHS in a cross functional team environment utilizing variety of continuous improvement tools and techniques such as SPC, SPA, APQP, FMEA, 7 QC tools, 5 S, Lean six sigma etc.
  • Lead and or facilitate robust root cause analysis and corrective actions on quality issues / audit findings utilizing structured problem-solving techniques such as 8 D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree, Cause Map etc.
  • Drive data driven quality assurance program / projects to continuously improve quality, reduce cost of poor quality and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Perform Internal audits and process and product surveillance audits to monitor QMS effectiveness and alert teams to proactively improve them to avoid nonconformance / findings.
  • Perform periodically Process Capability Studies, Control Chart monitoring / interpretation and Gage R & R to keep check on process health
  • Quality trend monitoring, Quality reporting and Quality alerts.

Education –

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with minimum two years of industry experience in a Quality related role. (i.e. metallurgy, material science, chemistry or chemical engineering degree preferred)
  • Fresh Bachelor’s degree with excellent academic records and internship experience in quality related assignments can also be considered for entry level position.
  • Six Sigma green belt or higher certification or similar practical experience with statistical process control and statistical problem solving.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities –

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Experience with complex statistical analysis is preferred.
  • Working knowledge with MS office applications such as Excel, Words, PowerPoint, ERP systems
  • Working Knowledge with Minitab or any statistical software is preferred.
  • Excellent Team player, Good interpersonal skills, and flair for process improvement.

Physical Demands –

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with assistance. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision.

Environment –

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. All such exposures are customarily within limits established by federal and state regulatory bodies. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
