We’re seeking a highly motivated structural designer to play a key role within our Bridge Engineering Section. In this role, you will make daily engineering decisions relating to structural integrity, public safety and economics when designing bridges and other transportation structures. A day in the life:
 

• Design simple to moderately complex bridges and other transportation related structures to solve engineering problems.
• Provide structural analysis and design services for bridges and other transportation structures.
• Provide technical guidance to regional bridge design teams and region personnel.
• Perform quality practices as specified in the bridge design manual and bridge design work order.
• Assist the structural design engineers to provide project scoping consultation to transportation project managers and scoping coordinators.
• Assist the structural design engineers to help provide emergency response.
• Occasionally work outside of normal work hours because of external damage to a bridge or structure.
• Remote work options available! Work is typically performed in an office environment and may require being near fast moving traffic, moving around hazardous locations, working 20 feet or more above the ground and using safety equipment.

What we need:
One (1) year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods and completion of and a passing score on the fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam.
 
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

• Attended school in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Experience designing non bridge highway and transportation related structures (e.g., retaining walls, culverts, overhead sign supports).
• Experience designing simple to moderately complex bridges.
