POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Intern provides support and completes assigned projects for the engineering team in support of strategic initiatives and the execution of day-to-day business. The activities include but not limited to supporting aspects of product development, product application, design, and manufacturing, operations, process development, continuous improvement, and other activities identified by engineering leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of executive management.

 

· Assist quality by measuring manufactured parts, comparing accuracy to part drawings, and developing quality plans / procedures.

· Assist in design / drawing creation for engineered products and systems using 3D modeling software.

· Assist in product performance testing and product evaluations.

· Update/Standardize bill of materials (BOMs) and routings.

· Conduct time studies on critical operations and assemblies to support routings.

· Develop visual aids and work instructions

· Assist with creation of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) current vs optimal.

· Review and assess current equipment requirements in a machine shop.

· Other job duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· BS in Engineering enrollment in good standing at an accredited university; required

· Advanced Excel skills, especially with formulas, data manipulation; required

· Working knowledge of a 3D modeling software package; SolidWorks; preferred

· Familiarity in six sigma and lean methodologies; preferred

· Previous experience using calipers, micrometers, cmm, etc.; preferred

· Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills; required

· Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision

· Working knowledge of MRP tools for planning / scheduling; preferred
