Laboratory Automation Engineer IV - #526

Did you ever wonder what it takes to order and process a genetic test? Since 1991, Myriad Genetics has been focused on revolutionizing patient care through the discovery and development of transformative molecular diagnostic tests that address pressing clinical needs across multiple medical specialties. We are looking for Laboratory Automation Engineer IV to join our lab in South San Francisco, CA to help automate and improve liquid handler-based processes.

Our tests are powered by an automated sequencing lab and software that truly covers the full technology stack: robotics, automation, scientific compute, data pipelines, variant calling/interpretation (bioinformatics), data visualization, risk calculations (population genetics), electronic medical records (EMR), patient and doctor user experience (UX), and solving key workflow problems in large complex health systems.

This technology stack enables us to provide actionable information to almost a million patients per year.

Location: On-site South San Francisco, CA

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Work on Myriad's state of the art custom robotic sample processing platform
  • Identify, propose, and implement process changes on a lab-wide scale
  • Design and execute studies and data gathering exercises with the aim of improving new and existing NGS protocols for use in a high-throughput automated lab
  • Collaborate with our science teams to translate new products and features into workflows on our automated platform


ABOUT YOU
  • 7 years of experience investigating, developing, and implementing laboratory or manufacturing processes
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with lab automation and/or liquid handling
  • Certification in at least one of the major liquid handling systems (e.g. Tecan, Beckman, Hamilton), or equivalent experience
  • Experience designing and analyzing processes (e.g. FMEA, CTQ, 5S)
  • Able to programmatically analyze data in R or Python and with data visualization tools like Looker
  • Experience integrating systems together in both hardware and software
  • Experience defining robust qualification procedures for equipment and processes (IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Experience with working in a regulatory environment (e.g. cGxP, CLIA, CAP, ISO)
