Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an experienced planning specialist to join our team as a Design-Build Program Specialist – Transportation Planning Specialist 3 (TPS3). Design-Build is a method of project delivery in which one entity, the Design-Builder, works under a single contract with WSDOT to provide design and construction services. This position will perform a variety of planning activities for Design-Build including developing, monitoring, administrating, coordinating, maintaining, and implementing WSDOT’s Design-Build program under the supervision of the State Design-Build Engineer. The individual in this role also performs technical writing, reviews specifications, plans, and coordinates all aspects of the program associated with the development, establishment and improvement of the templates, manuals, training, and documentation. The Design-Build Program Specialist – TPS3 serves as the construction division’s subject matter expert in the Lean Six Sigma methodology for lean business improvement projects and works with both internal and external partners to drive productivity improvement within WSDOT.
