JOB SUMMARY
 
Successful projects start with accurate, timely, coordinated models that represent construction and coordination conditions.  The BIM Technician will work closely with project teams to provide coordination support for both internal and external BIM coordination to ensure the maximum value of BIM for field teams.  The BIM Technician will identify clashes, propose optimal solutions, and support corporate BIM technology initiatives.  They will also work directly with field leaders to provide training and support using BIM viewing tools.  This shall be done in accordance with company objectives and goals.  Interaction with Virtual Construction team members, Project Managers, Field Leaders, Customers, General Contractors, and other trade subcontractors will be required. 
 
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Aggregate trade models into a single BIM and ensure BIM remains current with most recent trade files.
  • Manage BIM file structures with project teams to ensure files are accurately named and current.
  • Facilitate internal and external trade coordination using such tools as Navisworks to identify and drive the resolution of identified trade clashes.
  • Lead BIM coordination meetings, document clashes, track through Clash Reports, and communicate with trade teams.
  • Manage coordination of work with subcontractors utilizing Navisworks, BIMTrack or other software.
  • Collect clash data in a consistent and structured manner for use with other project reporting.
  • Model “scope gaps” necessary for coordination of overhead MEP trades.
  • Assist project teams with troubleshooting, model management and design and coordination issues.
  • Develop, manipulate, and maintain 3D models for specific projects for internal use in Estimating and Construction Operations.
  • Use the BIM to identify safety risks, specifically ensure equipment, valve and, device clearances are modeled and protected.
  • Support point cloud registration from laser scan models and incorporate into coordination efforts when appropriate.
  • Participate in VDC Committee meetings.
  • Create Presentation material/ visual aids in the support of technical and commercial proposals/presentations.
  • Utilize models to support Construction Operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Minimum five (5) year’s production experience in design, drafting or engineering OR a minimum five (5) years’ experience working in the trades.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
  • Excellent knowledge of the BIM process and related messaging around clash resolution.
  • Possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write and give presentations.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with BIM Collaborate ProAbility to convey technical requirements/systems in fundamental terms.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Experience with computer programming languages and the ability to batch, script and other automation skills.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS
  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of current AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a professional appearance.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
  • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continued education on CAD and BIM technologies to differentiate McKenney’s in the marketplace.
  • Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
  • Performance of the required duties may require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and scaffolds and to negotiate work areas under construction
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
