Life-cycle improvements and cost reductions as needed
- Vehicle Electrical architecture analyze, decide and design: location of any centralized controllers, decisions between centralized and distributed control, functional safety concept development and guiding team members in implementation of the functional safety concept
- Design, build, instrument, and automate test equipment for mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems.
- Work together with Design Engineers, Reliability, Regulatory, Quality, and Service to identify failure modes and generate design validation test plans.
- Collaborate with test technicians to perform component, system, and vehicle validation by simulating realistic and/or accelerated dynamic usage and environmental conditions.
- Investigate device failures to drive product development and test improvement.
- Identify and execute DOEs targeting new technologies or critical failures.
- Interface and simulate complex vehicular systems to validate firmware/hardware interactions.
- Work closely with suppliers and test labs to plan and track the test progress
- Responsible for a wide variety of electrical components and wire harnesses in vehicles, both in production and in development
- Responsible for technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget
- Set up hardware validation tests, capture data and electronically organize results
- Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
- Control/manage products from design (including quality & cost) scope to achieve defined targets through product development activity
- Create supporting documents for targeted design related activities/objectives and present to customer and internal groups for successful results.
- Must possess good communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments
