Job Description:

Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for the oversight of all construction-related activities and communication in the pre-solicitation, design and construction process at the San Francisco VA.

This is a full-time, five-year project contingent upon the award of the contract.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and implement program management plans which includes the construction management plan, construction safety plan, procurement plan and quality management plan
  • Provide technical review of submittals and quality control inspection
  • Oversight of contract requirements, budget and schedule
  • Ensure minimal interference of construction activities with the flow of hospital operations
  • Identify location areas for warehousing, lay-down areas, construction offices, site locations for construction offices and similar needs for the use of the contractors and subcontractors
  • Identify long lead procurements and implementation plans for procurement
  • Plan and implement handling of construction power, water, borrow and spoil areas, waste disposal, erection of cranes, road improvements and other major activities
  • Plan the procurement, warehousing and transportation of construction materials, procured equipment and technical system components
  • Identify the different stages of construction and its needed materials and equipment
  • Ensure that the project is in compliance with the Environmental Safety & Health Program
  • Review submittals, safety plans and shop drawings in compliance to the signed contract
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a construction representative
  • Experienced in handling healthcare or medical construction projects
  • Sound understanding of field construction concepts, principles and practices applicable to civil, mechanical, electrical and/or environmental engineering concerned with design, layout and supervision of construction operations
  • Strong knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws and regulations as they relate to engineering performance requirements
  • Background on safety and quality management in the healthcare construction field
