About the Graduate Program 

The Valmet International Graduate Program starts in September 2022 and will give you a broad understanding of Valmet tissue technology, as well as many opportunities for personal development. As a Valmet Graduate Trainee, you will go through an exciting program for 12 months, combining theoretical learnings, practical experience, and personal growth. You will be employed in our Tissue Mills Technology unit in Biddeford, Maine. During this international program you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of fields both in Biddeford and in Karlstad, Sweden. 

Entering the program, you will begin in the department of Product Management in Biddeford and then continue with a stay of several months at the Valmet Tissue location in Karlstad together with other trainees. After returning to Biddeford, you will continue your development journey before you transition to your first engineering position at Valmet. 

During the program you will gain broad experience working in different areas such as our Pilot Machine, Sales and possibly be out on customer site where you will create a valuable network of contacts.  

This program is designed to give you the best possibility to continue your career in Valmet after the program. You will get to know Valmet and its key technologies and will also have elements of the program tailor made for you, which will support your full-time position in the company, beginning after the 12-month graduate program.

Who are you? 

Besides your academic merits, you are interested in technology and development. You very much enjoy combining your theoretical knowledge with your true understanding of practical hands-on work and see opportunities for optimizations. Any Paper making experience is valuable. 

You also want to go the extra mile to reach the best result. You have a strong interest in developing yourself and are eager to take on new challenges together with new people. 

As Valmet is a global company with customers all around the world, travel will be a natural part of your future work.   

You are fluent in English and knowledge of any other language is an advantage in our global company.  

To qualify for the Valmet International Graduate Program, you have completed your Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering before the program starts and have genuine interest in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. You have a minimum of zero and maximum of two years of working experience post-graduation.
