Job Description:

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Space planner will develop VAMHCS Space and Capital Asset Management Policy and Programs regarding the efficient and effective utilization of existing space and developing new space to VA Design Guide Standards.  This may include coordinating the move requests, mapping, and planning the seating locations for various departments. Also, will work closely with medical and administrative staff to determine optimum locations and size of clinical and administrative spacing to meet evolving health care requirements.

Key responsibilities:                      

  • Assists in conducting interviews and preparation of advice regarding functional adjacencies
  • Assists in the determination of the compatibility of existing space to organizational needs versus defining new space requirements
  • Provides the DCVAMC with sound management advice regarding all work performed on DCVAMC projects and leases via task orders issued under the BPA
  • Helps to resolve problems and minimize claims taking all reasonable measures to anticipate problems and delays and to minimize or eliminate their adverse impact on project completion
  • Develops a good understanding of the principles of Federal Contracting and VA contract administrative processes
  • Advises the CO/COR/PM immediately of any potential delays in completion of work associated with task orders and any problems that are outside the responsibilities of the Space Planner per the BPA and/or task orders issued
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. 

Qualifications To be successful in the role: 

  • Associate degree or graduate of an accredited Technical School. The educational requirement may be substituted by 5 years of directly related experience
  • 3 years of experience in technical project coordination, preferably in the architectural design field
  • Must be proficient in CADD, Microsoft Office and have experience in document control and management
  • In-depth knowledge of the administrative and regulatory functions relevant to Space Management
  • Excellent English is written and verbal communication skills
