Scope

The individual performs HVAC and Plumbing calculations, system design, equipment selections, reports, progress submittals and BIM instructions for their project to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period of time and monetary budget. All of these are done in accordance with local codes, industry standards and FORMICA & ASSOCIATES design standards.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Design portions of a project related to building mechanical systems (HVAC AND plumbing) according to ICC codes and FORMICA & ASSOCIATES standards;
  • Research resources for commercially available equipment;
  • Responsible for keeping good client relations, updating project design folder, and provide documentation for permanent record files;
  • Supervision, training and mentoring for mechanical engineering designers and drafters
  • Coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, technology, clerical and equipment suppliers;
  • Documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress;
  • Assist with review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check;
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information;
  • Review design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Lead Engineer;
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement;
  • Other duties assigned by the employer.

Skills

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings;
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, and their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics;
  • Skill in the use of Autodesk REVIT, Trane Trace, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • PE not required but preferred or the ability to obtain in the next two years.
  • Minimum 3 years MEP systems design engineering
  • 90% Remote work. Must reside in the state of Florida

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull. 
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
