The Opportunity

WSDOT is eager to an experienced engineering program manager looking to advance their career into a leadership role to serve as our next Norwest Region (NWR) Program Manager. This position will provide oversight over NWR’s Capital Improvement & Preservation Program (CIPP), a complex and highly visible capital program delivering multibillion dollar projects over the next ten years. This position will also serve as the primary support to the I-405 and SR509 Gateway Projects, performing all the Program Management functions for these programs. What to Expect

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the NWR Program Manager will:

  • Direct and manage the development and delivery of the region’s Capital Improvement and Preservation Program within financial allocations and available resources. 
  • Direct and manage the development of the consultant procurement and agreements to ensure compliance with all the state and federal rules. 
  • Work with Capital Systems Replacement team to develop a new system that will replace current processes and systems and ensure it meets NWR business needs. 
  • Ensure successful implementation and proper training of the regional staff. 
  • Work with the project offices to identify their consultant needs and ensure timely and efficient procurement of the consultant services. 
  • Advise the Assistant Regional Administrator and make recommendations regarding future program planning and budgeting, conditions of the infrastructure assets within NWR, analysis of needs, staffing levels, and emerging issues. 

 

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in a transportation related field with at least five (5) years of project/program management experience in construction, engineering, or closely related experience. 
  • Ability to manage diverse teams of professional and technical engineering staff. 
  • Ability to develop and manage complex multimillion dollar budgets. 
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff to reach maximum performance. 

 

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
