Job Description:

The senior electrical engineer is capable and experienced in all areas of Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on buildings and building site electrical systems. They have experience producing electrical design and construction documents in an A/E consulting firm, understanding/experience with design and office related computer software and operating systems, and a broad knowledge of building electrical engineering from conceptual development through final design including lighting and power systems (medium and low voltage), fire alarm, communications, security and lightning protection systems.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Help our clients achieve their goals
Respond to estimated budget hour requests from Division Managers and Project
Managers
 
Assist project managers with development of project schedules and budgets
Work with Project Managers to establish design parameters consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget
Prepare Electrical design and construction documents in AutoCAD or REVIT
Coordinate with project managers regarding schedule and construction costs
Seek advice and counsel from Director of Electrical Engineering Services as needed
Interface with all disciplines assigned to the project to coordinate the Electrical work
Prepare Electrical Engineering design studies, written design narratives, calculations, and analysis, and direct Electrical Engineering support staff as required
Research building materials and systems and select appropriate items for incorporation into the building design
Maintain a working knowledge of architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, fire protection and telecom building systems; coordinate these systems with the electrical design
Perform conceptual planning and design and confirm the requirements of assigned projects are consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget
Prepare design documents as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development and construction documents)
Prepare outline and final construction document specifications, and coordinate the work with other project specifications
Assist with and prepare construction cost estimates
Remain current with new products and tools to better meet our client’s needs
Conduct field investigations to understand project requirements
Assist with quality assurance reviews
 
REQUIRED:
 
Experience designing building Electrical systems to meet energy codes and standards
Experience working with architects, interior designers, civil, structural, and mechanical designers and engineers, and other technical personnel
Experience mentoring and supervising electrical personnel and other technical staff
Comfortable with a broad range of project types
Familiarity and experience working with the NEC and other pertinent building codes
Knowledgeable in related areas of building design
IRO 2022
 
Proficiency in AutoCAD & REVIT
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with PTW SKM or EasyPower software
Experience managing parallel assignments
Proactive and assertive in problem solving
Staff management and client relationship skills
Comfortable working in teams and making group presentations
Experience providing marketing and project interview support
Experience working with Federal Government Agencies such as the Department of
Defense, the Department of Justice and the US Army Corps of Engineers, a plus
 
Good written and oral communications skills; fluent in speaking, reading and writing in English
 
Ability to obtain registrations in other states as required (NCEES preferred)
Proficient in REVIT
Works well in teams, and independently
Capable and competent in all areas of interior design and the interior design process
Demonstrated strong design and presentation skills
Good client skills
Experienced in speaking and writing, and making group presentations
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited US college
(Master’s Degree a plus)
 
PE License as an Electrical Engineer in the United States
 
Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Electrical Engineering, working in an
 
Engineering or Architectural/Engineering consulting firm, with an emphasis on Electrical design for buildings
