Kitsap County is looking for the next Traffic Engineer!
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional in transportation and traffic engineering, be a proven leader and strong communicator! 
 
Position Overview
In this position you will get to the opportunity to administers and manages the transportation planning, traffic engineering and traffic operations functions within the Road Division.  Advanced expertise is required to perform professional engineering and administrative functions.  The Traffic Engineer serves as the liaison with the Board of County Commissioners regarding transportation and traffic engineering issues and serves as a mediator and negotiator in responding to the public regarding complex and/or controversial traffic engineering problems.

Work assignments are broad in nature and are received with little or no technical instruction and require the selection of course of action and resolution of complex or unique problems with considerable latitude for independent judgment to develop procedures and systems and establish priorities working within the framework of established administrative guidelines.  The Traffic Engineer must apply intensive and diversified knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices.  Work is reviewed by the County Engineer for compliance with established policies and objectives and is evaluated through reports, conferences, and the results obtained.  
 
Required Education and Experience
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE)* or reciprocity from another state and the ability to secure WA State PE within six months; AND
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; AND
  • Eight years of professional experience in transportation and traffic engineering;  AND
  • Three years of supervisory experience. 
*Equivalent Experience in lieu of Education: Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE)* or reciprocity from another state and the ability to secure WA State PE within six months; AND Twelve years of professional experience in transportation and traffic engineering;  AND Three years of supervisory experience.
