Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Southwest Region is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Traffic Design Engineer in Vancouver, WA. This is a highly technical position requiring thorough knowledge of Traffic Engineering Design principles. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert as it relates traffic design including Intelligent Transportation Systems Design, Illumination/Electrical and Signal Design, Traffic Signing Design according to WSDOT policies and the MUTCD, including site visits in support of multi-modal traffic design. In addition, this position manages the Traffic Design section within the Traffic Office and reports directly to the Region Traffic Engineer. Communication is paramount as you will work directly with project engineering offices, support offices, maintenance, headquarters, contractors, and others to successfully scope, design, construct and operate Traffic Design features. This position supports the department’s mission by focusing on the goals of the Strategic Investments, Modal Integration, and Smart Technology in relationship to reliable highway operations and improved safety.
