The candidate will be a member of the Manufacturing Technology Solutions Accelerator (MTSA) Office and tasked to execute initiatives that deliver growth goals of the FastLane program. They will organize and manage activities and use their sales and marketing leadership skills to empower our team of professionals to deliver the best solutions to small and medium manufacturing businesses in FastLane’s western Ohio region. Because we are successful when our client’s grow their business and become more competitive, this person’s team is responsible for tracking the client's positive economic impacts using existing Federal & State reporting processes. They will grow and mentor the existing and future sales and marketing team. This candidate with be a ‘working supervisor’ responsible for both leadership of our Sales & Marketing functions and managing their own client load and being a member of the MTSA and Ohio-MEP leadership teams. (Note: typical travel is local/regional; UDRI uses a hybrid office/remote-working model).

% of time Duties / Responsibilities:

"Leadership" (35%): Lead the Business Development team toward successful execution of initiatives, by instilling a high-level of accountability to both individual and team goals, while managing day-to-day activities. Add to the current positive culture: (internally) by consistently exhibiting servant-leader traits in support of colleagues; (externally) identifying and enabling FastLane to provide new services to clients. Responsible for team performance and related sales & marketing metrics and goals. Also responsible for skills development & career development of the direct reports, plus continuous improvement of the Business Development & Marketing team's processes and intersecting processes. This person is also a member of the UDRI MTSA Leadership team, Ohio MEP leadership team and a leader in the community.

"Sales" (25%): Network across the region, then engage with executive or mid-level management running manufacturing firms, assess strategies for accelerating growth at these companies, submit appropriate proposals and garner new contracts that generate real impact within these client companies' businesses. Will identify, prospect and serve new clients as well as engage existing clients and grow/nurture these customer relationships. Will also work with Delivery on potential service offerings as needs and gaps are assessed.

"Marketing" (20%): Create a high level of integration between both sales and marketing activities, evidenced by full alignment of strategies and tactics by both, and that all initiatives are built on customer/market based needs and trends. Ensure there is a balance of strategic and tactical projects to support growth strategies from both teams, and lead the cohesive work across the team. Enlist the sales team to support marketing by tracking items (i.e. leads, success stories) and provide marketing with key performance feedback on prior initiatives. Responsible for the overall partnership relationships management working with the Sales team to identify and nurture partners and collaboration opportunities with other organizations.

"New Business Growth/Strategy" (20%): Provide assistance to the Director of FastLane (MTSA-Office Head) in assessment of FastLane's performance against contractual objectives from OH-MEP and other customers, and generate new funding ideas for expansion outside of current grant funding that is aligned with the MTSA mission. When funding permits, efficiently hire new staff with appropriate skills to execute on strategic objectives and grow the Office/Division. Manage/filter new initiatives and determine the level of focus (if any) compared to strategic plan


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years of B2B sales experience in consultative selling
Minimum of 5 years of sales experience leading a sales/marketing team while maintaining client responsibility
Successful experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
Minimum of 5 years of strategic marketing experience
3+ years experience using a CRM system
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team.
Demonstrated experience using data and report analytics experience to drive sales/marketing direction/actions
Skills developed and successful experience in delivering effective presentations.
Articulate & concise written and oral communication skills.
Advanced computer literacy skills including proficiency with MS Office suite.
Must have a valid drivers license with low risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

MBA
Demonstrated success for 8+ years in sales with a track record of exceeding metrics, improving sales team performance through employee development/mentoring, improving sales processes/systems and "raving" customer and employee references.
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the manufacturing industry
Experience in SalesForce
Proven experience in motivating and accomplishing work through others, with demonstrated success working collaboratively with cross functional teams.
Effective strategic planning experience including development/creation of, plus execution of growth related strategies.


Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
