Job Description:

This position will support day-to-day metallography laboratory (met lab) operations for United States Air Force (USAF) sustainment activities including additive manufacturing (AM), cold spray (CS), and applied corrosion technologies. Primary job duties will include specimen preparation and characterization to support direct metal laser melting (DMLM) and fused filament fabrication (FFF) AM and CS process and product development, incoming quality control inspection and assisting inventory management of metal powders for AM and CS, coordinating purchase orders and sample shipments with internal and external support labs, and supporting materials engineers with other project activities as assigned. Lab safety and housekeeping rules and regulations, as well as relevant government or industry standards as appropriate, must be carefully followed at all times.


Minimum Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Demonstrated experience following instructions, exercising sound judgement, and exhibiting good work habits in the performance of assigned duties
-Demonstrated organizational skills
-Attention to detail
-Proficient with MS Office
-Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Relevant technical study beyond high school
-Direct experience with specimen preparation including polishing
-Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures
-Experience working in a manufacturing environment
-Effective communication skills with team members at all levels

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
