**This role is 100% remote**

Join our pit crew as a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) on our quickly growing distributed engineering team for technical leadership of multiple, parallel, high profile projects. 

In this Staff Software Engineer (Backend) position you will be responsible for building, owning, and shipping products as well as for understanding the whole picture, resolving  dependencies and encouraging cross team collaboration. You will also be responsible for overseeing the architecture across multiple feature teams, driving teams to adhere to Vrooms architecture guidelines and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, deploy and maintain scalable software and services
  • Collaborate directly with Tech and Product Leads to develop and maintain cutting edge software
  • Design and implement high availability services and microservices
  • Develop core platform services and back-end APIs Develop, and experiment with new technologies to increase efficiency
  • Oversee the implementation and architecture of multiple teams
  • Mentor, onboard, and support engineers to release high quality software

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science
  • 8+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Strong software design skills; database modeling a plus
  • Experience with Go (Golang), Java, or C/C++
  • Openness to learning new programming languages and technologies
  • AWS and/or GCP (Google Cloud Platform)Linux/Unix
  • Experience building scalable web architecture and distributed systems
  • Docker and/or Kubernetes experience a plus
