Our manufacturing client in Woodbury, MN is looking to hire a Process Engineer to operations. This Process Engineer will provide engineering support to the Production department.  This includes oversight of assigned production operations, technical contact for customers, troubleshooting, process improvement, equipment installation and scale-up of projects from development to production. 
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the safety, organization and cleanliness of process areas
  • Execute quality systems and identify areas for continual improvement;
  • Write work instructions and associated documentation
    • Work with Quality team to document and correct quality issues
    • Implement, review and analyze appropriate SPC and trending data on applicable processes
  • Oversee assigned on-going production jobs
    • Direct production personnel working on assigned projects
    • Prioritize critical tasks to meet production goals
    • Oversee and/or run production and/or development jobs
    • Implement the production schedule put forth by the Operations Manager and/or the Production Manager
    • Implement equipment/process training programs for Operators
    • Provide coverage for Production Operators during breaks and as schedule dictates
  • Project Scale-up and Process Improvement
    • Identify process bottlenecks and develop streamlining strategy
    • Coordinate implementation of streamlining project
    • Coordinate process improvement efforts and communicate to customers as appropriate
    • Work closely with other members of the engineering team to scale-up design of new processes and equipment
    • Work closely with other members of the engineering team on equipment installation, streamlining and troubleshooting
    • Work with Operations Manager to identify areas for process improvement
    • Regularly update status of projects with Management
  • Work in multi-function teams
    • Work closely with Project Manager to understand customer expectations
    • Work closely with Project Manager to evaluate job costs for current and future proposals
    • Provide technical expertise and be a technical resource for the company
    • Report maintenance issues / requests to the Maintenance team
    • Identify routine maintenance failures and provide long-term solutions
 
  • Be the technical lead for key customer accounts as defined
Job Qualifications:
  • 1-5 years experience in engineering preferred
  • If no bachelor’s degree, minimum 10 years’ experience in applying engineering principles and processes in a comparable industry
  • Chemical manufacturing plant experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and communicate technical information, including drawings, statistical data and specifications
  • Skill and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact effectively with Project Managers and customers.
  • Knowledge of equipment, production and packaging processes
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office suite and other software
  • Knowledge of ISO, QSR/GMP and quality processes and procedures preferred
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize projects
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams on projects
