Job Description:

Job Summary:The Civil Engineer will design structures, foundations, and civil grading of substation sites.Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs and plans per customer specifications.
  • Assesses strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
  • Sets design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
  • Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
  • Estimates materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
  • Monitors project progress and ensures design specifications and safety standards are met.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD Civil 3D, Mathcad, STAAD Pro, LPile, and RISA Foot
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of foundations, substations, buildings, and other related structures.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Knowledge of shallow and deep foundation calculations and theory
  • Experience preparing and reviewing storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) preferred
  • Site layout, grading, drainage, erosion, and sediment control experience preferred
  • Knowledge of preparing hydrology and hydraulic calculations
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage workload with minimal supervision
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, schedule-driven department

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • At least 3 years professional experience required.
  • Licensure as professional engineer (PE) preferred.

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday: 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Friday: 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
