Headquartered in Norwell, Massachusetts with offices in Newport, ME, Los Angeles, CA and London, UK, Zildjian products are sold globally through distributors and via a network of dealers. All Zildjian products are made in the USA at our cymbal factory in Norwell, MA and drumstick/mallet factory in Newport, ME.

 

The Process Engineer will report directly to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate must be a proven leader who can provide the necessary focus towards key initiatives to improve factory operations in efficiency and effectiveness. This position will lead cross-functional teams on continuous improvement problem solving opportunities. She/he will be expected to be a true Operations partner to all other areas of the business to include Innovation and New Product Development. She/he will be involved as a team member in the design, placement and flow of new technology and machinery into our facility. She/he will work closely with maintenance leader on ensuring and reducing machine down time


 
  • Perform analysis on production processes and procedures in order to drive continuous improvement: production improvement, yield increases, cycle time reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain records of technical information on process methods, standards and formulas.
  • In collaboration with Innovation team, lead the transition of new product development one of a kind to scale up Operation's processes for new product prototypes.
  • In collaboration with Innovation team, identify internal solutions and or external service providers to deliver planned manufacturing of new design specifications and bill of materials.
  • Maintain knowledge of cross-industry manufacturing and testing methods, building business cases for equipment additions, upgrades, replacements, and automation as needed
  • Progress Zildjian's IoT and digital transformation capabilities to measure and report on key production metrics and in-process data
  • Implement Lean visual aids as well as help maintain visual aids and work instructions throughout the shop floor
  • Facilitate the Engineering Change Process for any product or process improvements that affects form, fit or function of product or process.
  • Be the Lean champion that drives process improvement throughout manufacturing.
  • Work proficiently within the Styeline system to support all decision making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with metrics, process capabilities, LEAN techniques, and continuous improvement tools like Kaizen.
  • 2+ years of experience with computer problem solving using tools like 5 Why's, Fishbone diagram, Value Stream Mapping.
  • Required usage of shop mathematics and techniques in order to draft engineering models, assemblies, and drawings, as well as machine and process specifications.
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment with a solid team building approach.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred to drive the methodology to drive both incremental and major improvement gains. Six Green or Black Belt preferred.
  • Excellent computer capabilities to include Minitab and Excel data analysis with the ability to use quantitative metrics to make recommendations and actionable plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software preferred.

Interpersonal Skills – Must have the demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships and know how to motivate and develop teams and individuals to reach their highest potential. Ability to effectively communicate with office and shop floor Zildjian employees is critical.
