Job Description:

Electrical/electronics technician in UDRI’s Electrical/Electronics Failure Analysis Laboratory. This position is located at WPAFB, Area B, building 652. Roles and responsibilities include hands-on failure analysis of electrical and electronic components, systems, and use of electronic test equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school degree
• Eight years of experience with electricity and/or electronics
• Hands-on experience in a laboratory or production environment
• Experience with electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
• Experience with hand-soldering and using common hand tools
• Experience with troubleshooting electronic equipment and systems
• Ability to read and analyze simple wiring diagrams and schematics
• Hold a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance, or ability to receive DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Associate degree or higher from nationally-accredited college/university
• Experience in electrical/electronic failure analysis techniques
• Ability to design simple electrical/electronic systems
• Experience in environmental testing (temperature, vibration, etc.)
• Experience with analytical tools such as scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS)
• Experience with performing cross-sections of components
• Experience with electrical power systems (generators, circuit breakers, contactors, etc.)
• Ability to write test reports
• Familiarization with material properties
• Experience with electrical wiring and connectors
• Familiarization with electronic manufacturing and related hardware (printed circuit board fabrication, soldering, component packages, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel


Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
