Job Description:

The master technician / facility manager for the Advanced Composite Office includes the following broad set of responsibilities: developing, documenting and managing processes, establishing and maintaining quality laboratory standards, preparing for and conducting tests, gathering and analyzing technical information, performing equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies inventory, training, general housekeeping, informing others, maintaining a quality lab environment, maintain technical knowledge of composite materials and test protocols, identifying problems, and communicating potential risk areas.


Minimum Qualifications
• Familiar with composite materials, manufacturing processes and inspection techniques.
• Minimum 12 years’ relative experience
• 2 years of progressive management or supervisory experience.
• Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with engineers, technicians and clients with equal effectiveness.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing all aspects of a full industrial laboratory facility
• Experience running autoclave, oven, and CNC mill machines.
• Proven ability to write technical reports, training material and quality reports.
• Proven ability to maintain equipment logs.
• Effective data trending, document control, and technical bench skills.
• Effective interpersonal communications skills.
• Working knowledge of US Air Force policies and procedures.
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
 

Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
