This position will focus on understanding the material science issues of cold spray repair, additive manufacturing, applied corrosion technologies, and connecting material properties to part end-use needs. This will include material/process risk assessments and selection, ideation for process improvement and/or material replacement, process development and troubleshooting, providing subject matter expertise on structure-property and process-property relationships, test plan development and execution, test data interpretation, and validation of part performance vs. end-use requirements. The position will be primarily focused on cold spray repair and metal powder bed fusion additive manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications
1. BS degree in materials or metallurgical engineering
2. 8 years of directly related experience in materials engineering or metallurgy
3. Direct experience with cold spray repair technology and an understanding of process-property relationships of metal and metal matrix composite systems for high pressure and low pressure cold spray systems
4. 8 years of experience developing and implementing operational procedures, process control plans, and process improvements
5. 8 years of experience with materials characterization including experience with techniques such as glow discharge spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal property analysis, hardness, and analysis of thermal spray coatings
6. 1 year of experience with the characterization of metal matrix composite materials and powders
7. 5 years of experience developing test plans, performing design of experiments and analyzing the results with a statistical data analysis package such as JMP
8. Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
9. Effective written and verbal communication skills
10. Demonstrated self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
11. Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. MS degree in materials or metallurgical engineering
2. 8 years of development of material properties for product design engineering of metals, plastics, and/or ceramics
3. 8 years of experience with powder characterization
4. Experience performing process optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
5. Experience performing quantitative microscopy and image analysis
6. Experience leading equipment specification, procurement, installation and/or implementation
7. Experience qualifying aerospace products and processes; working knowledge of US Air Force policies and procedures
8. Experience with electrophoretic processing of metal/ceramic and algae systems for biofuel applications
9. Experience with producing and analyzing superconducting and magnetic systems

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
