Description:

GMRE is currently seeking a CAD Drafter to support the Engineering Team at the GMRE HQ located in South Ogden, UT. CAD Operator/Drafter to collaborate with other team members to develop multiple designs which meets the needs of the customer. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using computer aided design and drafting (CAD) software.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed designs and drawings from specifications for mechanical and electrical equipment using CAD software
  • Resolve design issues by coordination and collaboration with peers to design and detail components and systems
  • Review and analyze customer specifications, sketches, drawings, and related data to assess aspects affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
  • Adhere to ASME Y14.100 standards
  • Perform revisions to mechanical and electrical drawings, as required, to existing projects
  • Calculate formulas for detailed designs using CAD software
  • Perform engineering design, illustration, and technical writing on mechanical and electrical projects

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of specialized experience in using Computer Aided Design and Drafting programs in mechanical and electrical design. Solidworks and Solidworks Electrical (preferred)
  • Experience in producing electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings from rough engineering sketches
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and contractor engineering control/release processes
  • Degree in Drafting Technology or certificate of completion from a technical institute or college
  • Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 drafting standards

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visit
