Job Description:

UDRI is a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers. UDRI contributes to the fulfillment of the University of Dayton’s commitments to education, research and public service through the involvement of students, faculty and external partners. UDRI is ranked first in the nation among all colleges and universities for sponsored materials research, according to the National Science Foundation. In Ohio, UDRI is number one among colleges and universities receiving contracts and grants from the Department of Defense.

This position is located at the Hangar-01 facility in Beavercreek, OH supporting the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). The RSO increases mission readiness by rapidly identifying, applying and scaling technology essential to the operation and sustainment of the U.S. Air Force. Hangar-01 is the lead in bringing together a comprehensive network of new technological methods, processes, and techniques. Success comes from our teamwork and mutual respect for each other’s talents and unique perspectives.

The objective of the RSO is to identify, assess, develop, validate, verify and deploy new technologies for implementation across the sustainment enterprise to improve readiness and reduce sustainment costs. The sustainment enterprise includes both field and depot level maintenance as well as enterprise supply chain and program office sustainment activities. Inherent in the accomplishment of the RSO mission is rapid delivery of critical sustainment technologies to improve readiness. The RSO will experiment, within the bounds of law, to discover and recommend new technological methods, processes, and techniques for the Air Force and the Department of Defense to develop, acquire, and field such capabilities in an efficient fashion. This approach is heavily dependent upon collaborations across industry, academia, and government to build upon the development of others, to enable others to exploit Air Force developments, and to conduct operations and technical assessments in support of the above. Accomplishing this involves challenging traditional approaches and a willingness to act as an agent of change. Change does not come without taking some level of business execution risk to rapidly deploy technology on a large scale which is the mission of the RSO.
