Overview:

Our client, a locally owned & operated premium mechanical contractor, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their rapidly growing design team. This role will work closely with the Engineer Lead to develop mechanical & plumbing designs, provide CAD support for field personnel, & use CAD & BIM software to detail piping & ductwork. This is a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Portland, OR.

Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical/HVAC & plumbing systems for a variety of exciting projects
  • Create mechanical & plumbing design documents
  • Develop designs of fans, dampers, ductwork, inlets & outlets, etc.
  • Make engineering calculations & perform energy modeling
  • Design boiler plants, hydronic piping, building plumbing systems, & gas piping
  • Produce designs for ductwork & piping hangers & supports
  • Develop detailed CAD & BIM ductwork & piping models for manufacture & assembly
  • Coordinate with installers
  • Participate actively in project meetings
  • Write & develop construction specifications, project proposals, & design cost estimates
  • Interact professionally with owners, architects, general contractors, & team members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or 3-5 years of HVAC/plumbing design experience in construction required
  • At least 1 year of experience in construction design & drafting of HVAC, mechanical, & plumbing systems required
  • At least 1 year of experience with AutoCAD required
  • Minimum of 1 year Construction field experience preferred
  • Some experience with Revit preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical systems, fans, pumps, chiller & boiler systems, & controls
  • Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, & energy building codes
  • Knowledge of plumbing systems
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
