Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Bridge Engineer 3 (In-Training) to serve as the Scour Co-Inspector. This Scour Co-Inspector position is in the Risk Reduction unit of the Bridge Preservation Office in Tumwater, WA. This is an In-Training position and can be filled at the Bridge Engineer 1, Bridge Engineer 2, or Bridge Engineer 3 level. The position supports WSDOT’s mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation by ensuring the safety and reliability of the bridges on the state highway system. The position assists the Scour Engineer assessing bridges for vulnerability of failure due to erosive forces (scour) at the bridge foundations and designing appropriate repairs to protect bridges from failure due to scour. The position also serves as a co-inspector in support of federally mandated bridge inspections. This helps WSDOT’s bridge inspection program meet the National Bridge Inspection Standards.

Note: This is an in-training position that offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Bridge Engineer field and achieve the goal class of a Bridge Engineer 3. Candidates will be considered as a Bridge Engineer 1, 2 or 3, depending on their qualifications.
