Controls Engineer
Job description
Responsibilities:
  • Interface with customers to determine their needs, and keep them informed as projects progress
  • Assist in estimation and proposals
  • Be able to quickly understand manufacturing processes, and develop functional specifications and control schemes to control these processes, which may include: process control, batching, machine control, motion control, and safety systems
  • Instrumentation specification and configuration
  • PLC programming
  • HMI/SCADA programming
  • Historian and Reports configuration
  • Develop test plans and test control system components, such as: control panels, PLC programs, HMI programs, Instrumentation, and Drives
  • On-site troubleshooting
  • On-site I/O Checking and System Startup
  • Be able to travel to customer sites
  • Be able to work extra hours, including some weekends, according to project needs
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (in Food & Beverage, Ingredients, Nuts and/or Dairy is ideal)
  • PLC programming: Allen-Bradley, but Siemens, Modicon are also beneficial.
  • HMI programming: FactoryTalk View SE & ME, Ignition, AVEVA InTouch, Edge, and System Platform, iFIX
  • Reporting: Ignition, Dream Reports, and AVEVA Insight
  • Fanuc Robotic programming is a plus
  • Good communication skills, which include: verbal skills, interpersonal skills, and technical writing
  • Working well as a team member
  • Customer care oriented
  • Good computer skills and easily able to learn new technologies
  • Well organized, and able to manage time wisely
  • Good at problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Good programming aptitude
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Work to be conducted remotely or at one of JTI's California offices. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected (at least 20% of time)
