Job Description:

SHINE Technologies is immediately seeking an R&D Engineer to build, operate, test, and troubleshoot accelerator systems, detection equipment, and related hardware platforms.  He/she will also be responsible for performing analysis on collected data and presenting the analyses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Construct and test selected electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Operate Phoenix accelerator systems and related test hardware
  • Test, debug and repair components and assemblies from circuit boards to assembled modules
  • Develop, conduct, and document experiments utilizing detection and test hardware
  • Analyze data, develop working theories, and present conclusions to Senior R&D staff

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional electromechanical skills. Ability to assemble and wire large electrical / electromechanical components per mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with high vacuum systems, high voltage (>50 kV), and/or plasma systems desired.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics with simple to moderate level analog circuits.
  • Experience operating complex equipment – ability to understand nuances of various test methods and equipment, when to apply what techniques/tools for a given situation, and how to interpret collected data. 
  • Ability to document test setups, procedures, data, etc. to a level that will allow repeatability by another person at a later date. 
  • Ability to function in daily environment that has a high level of complexity and that requires several projects to be worked on concurrently.
  • Ability to perform operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications, diagnose and isolate malfunctions down to component level, conduct defined engineering tests and collect data as assigned.
  • Ability to utilize development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, DMM, signal generators, data loggers, and similar equipment.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a technical environment.
  • BS degree in a suitable technical field (i.e. nuclear engineering or physics).
